What did they say?

Piper Avionics Stack

A while ago I wrote about my radio practice at Senai airport.  I wrote it mostly to get things lined up properly in my own mind, so I never got around to publish it.   I now found it again in one of the abandoned folders on my laptop and think this may help somebody else with their first radio calls.  So, while I make it available here, I am aware that I am not that experienced myself and may get things wrong.  It always better to ask an instructor for clarification if in doubt! Out of Order

In Admin on September 25, 2011 at 9:58 pm

Sorry! My blog and web site have been unavailable for three days or so.

Since the announcement of the closure of the iWeb service by Apple, I was looking for a replacement and eventually switch over to the web hosting service of GoDaddy.  Last week the web site stopped loading and I have problems uploading new content as well.  Since I didn’t get feedback from GoDaddy, I looked for an alternative and found it in iPage.

Unfortunately, the changes in DNS service proved to be less straight forward than I had hoped, so that I managed to make everything unavailable the night before my cross-country flight to Ipoh.

I think now everything works again and I hope I haven’t lost too many readers, because of this glitch.

Into the mountains

Ipoh Terminal Building (air side)

On the 24th and 25th of September I added Ipoh (WMKI) to the list of airports I have landed on. On Saturday morning around 9 am, we took off in Johor.  In Subang we had a quick lunch and left for Ipoh about 12:30. We took the coastal route via Kapar, Kuala Selangor, Teluk Intan, Kampar and Gopeng and touched down in Ipoh after a one hour and 20 minutes flight. Captain Ridzuan had everything extremely well prepared as usual.  I had put together flight plans and logs as well, but his stuff was better. Read the rest of this entry »

Domingo and Captn Singh in AT4 9M-EYM

On Saturday, we had bring-your-favorite-gadgets to the club day.  We wanted to do some photo and video shooting to have material for web sites brochures and so forth.  It turned out that flying is not the only expensive hobby our pilots are into.  The number of cameras we all brought along was nothing short of impressive.  I think I was the only one bringing a “point-and-shot” camera to a serious DSLR “fight”.  To be sure I also had my D80 in my bag, but that wasn’t anything to brag about.  Anyway, I am happy with my new little Coolpix P300 camera, which I bought recently.  As they say, the only good camera is a camera you actually have with you when you want to take a picture and the P300 is small enough to carry in my trouser pockets. Nothing to see

In Flight Log on September 11, 2011 at 10:39 pm

This weekend I took a colleague to the club to fly for the first time with a passenger (who is not an instructor) . He has lots of hours of flying time himself,  he just hasn’t flown for a while.  Unfortunately, for a sightseeing tour, there was precious little to see. Read the rest of this entry »
